How we compare plans
- Prices come from each provider’s own pricing page or help centre, for the US. Claude’s and Google’s are re-checked automatically every day; OpenAI’s pages block automated checks, so ChatGPT’s are checked by hand. See our methodology.
- Usage is given in the provider’s own terms. None of them publishes exact message limits, so we don’t invent any.
- Context windows are the same figures our token counter uses. Where a plan has several models or modes, we show the largest.
- Plan highlights are summaries; each provider’s own comparison page has the full list.

Frequently asked questions
Which AI subscription is best value?
It depends on what you use most. The standard plans cost about the same, so the difference is in what comes bundled: compare the highlights of each plan above against the tools you actually use. If you only need more everyday use than the free plans give, look at the cheaper entry plans first.
Is Google AI Pro, ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro cheaper?
In the US, Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month; ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month; Claude Pro is $20 a month ($17 a month if you pay for a year up front).
What does “5x” or “20x” usage mean?
Top plans are sold as multiples of a cheaper plan’s usage allowance, e.g. five or twenty times the standard plan’s usage. None of the three providers publishes exact message counts for their plans, so these multiples are the most precise comparison available.
Why is a price shown as “Varies”?
Some providers show a plan’s price only in your local currency and don’t publish a single US price anywhere we can check. Rather than guess, we leave it out; the provider’s pricing page shows the price for your country.
Are these prices the same in every country?
No. These are US prices before tax. Providers set local prices in many countries, and app-store subscriptions can cost more than subscribing on the web.
