Which AI Should I Use?
Four quick questions. We score every ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini plan against your answers and show the reasons in each provider’s own words.
What do you want it for?
Pick up to 3, or skip.
How the result is worked out
- Budget removes every plan above the price level you chose. Plans without a published US price are left out.
- What you want is checked against the highlights each provider publishes for its plans, including the cheaper plans a plan says it includes. A highlight that lists the feature scores 3 points, one that lists it as limited scores half, and no mention scores nothing. The highlight is quoted as the reason.
- Long documents is scored on the plan’s published context window, as a share of the largest window in your budget.
- How often adds up to 2 points: occasional use favours free and cheap plans, daily use the standard plans, and all-day use the top plans.
- User ratings are optional. They are the plain average of each app’s US App Store and Google Play star ratings, read daily. “User ratings” orders the plans by that average; “Both” adds it to the match as up to 1 point (1 star is none, 5 stars all of it), which mostly settles ties.
- Ties go to the cheaper plan, and the result names the plans it tied with.
- What it doesn’t do. It doesn’t judge the quality of answers, and a plan may do more than its highlights list. See our methodology.
Frequently asked questions
How does the quiz pick an AI?
It scores every ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini plan within your budget. Each thing you want is worth 3 points to a plan whose published highlights list it, half that when they list it as limited, and nothing when they don’t mention it. Up to 2 more points come from how well the plan’s price level suits how often you’d use it. The match percentage is the plan’s points as a share of the most it could have scored.
Is this based on which AI gives the best answers?
No. We don’t test or rank the quality of the models, and we don’t use benchmarks. By default the quiz compares what each provider says its plans include, what they cost and how much text they can take in at once. You can also rank by what app-store users rate each app, which reflects their opinion of the app as a whole. All three are capable assistants; the free plans are the best way to judge the answers for yourself.
Where do the user ratings come from?
From the US Apple App Store and Google Play pages of the ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini apps, read once a day. Each chatbot’s score is the plain average of its two store ratings, so the store with more ratings doesn’t drown out the other, and both store figures are shown beside it with a link. A rating belongs to the app, not to a plan, so every plan of a chatbot shares it. “User ratings” puts the best-rated chatbot’s plans first; “Both” adds the rating to your match as up to 1 point, which mainly settles ties.
Why does it say something isn’t listed when I know the AI can do it?
The quiz reads the short list of highlights each provider publishes for a plan. If a feature isn’t in that list, it isn’t counted, even if the product has it. Each provider’s own plan page has the full details, and we link to it from every result.
What happens when two plans tie?
The cheaper plan is shown first, and the result says which plans scored the same. A tie means the published plan details don’t separate them for what you picked, so the choice comes down to which app you prefer.
Why isn’t ChatGPT Go in the results?
A plan needs a published US price to be placed against a budget. Where a provider only shows a plan’s price in your local currency, we leave the plan out of the quiz rather than guess. It still appears in our subscription comparison.
Are my answers stored?
No. The quiz runs in your browser. Your answers are kept in the page’s address so you can share or bookmark a result, and nowhere else.
