How to edit a PDF
- Open your PDF. It’s read in your browser and shown page by page.
- Pick a tool and click the page. Text starts where you click; Tick and Cross are centred on it. For Highlight and White-out, drag over the area.
- Adjust. Drag anything you added to move it, pull its corner to resize it, and double-click text to change it. The bar above the pages sets size and colour. Undo with Ctrl+Z.
- Download. You get a new PDF; your original file isn’t changed.
To make the result smaller for email, use the PDF Compressor.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The editor works entirely in your browser: your PDF is opened, edited and saved on your own device and never sent to our server. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.
Can I change the text that’s already in the PDF?
Not directly. PDFs store text as fixed pieces in fixed places, so changing a word in place often comes out in the wrong font or spacing. Instead, cover the old words with White-out and type the new ones on top with Text.
Does White-out remove information?
No. It hides what’s under it when the PDF is viewed or printed, but the original text is still in the file and can be copied or found by searching. Don’t use it to hide passwords, account numbers or other private information.
How do I sign a PDF?
Choose Sign, draw your signature with a mouse, finger or stylus, then drag it into place and resize it from its corner. To use a signature you already have as a picture, choose Image instead. This adds a picture of your signature, not a certified digital signature.
How do I rotate, reorder or delete pages?
Each page has buttons above it to rotate it, move it up or down, or delete it. On a computer you can also drag the page thumbnails on the left to reorder them.
How do I merge PDFs?
Open the first PDF, then choose Add PDF and pick the others. Their pages go at the end; move them where you want and download one combined file.
Do form fields, links and bookmarks survive?
Yes for the first PDF you open. Pages added from other PDFs keep their look but lose their form fields and bookmarks. A digital signature in the original won’t stay valid after editing, because any change to a signed PDF breaks it.
Is there a limit?
PDFs up to 100 MB and 1,000 pages in total. Password-protected PDFs need the password removed first. It’s free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
